OFFICE VISION
SAFE LIGHT FOR “THE WINDOWS TO THE SOUL”
In recent years, an increasing number of people have used computers for work and study. High Energy Visible (HEV) from computer screens, on the other hand, can induce recurrent eye strain, dry eyes, and sleep difficulties. This HEV is emitted not just by electronic screens, but also by fluorescent bulbs and LEDs. As a result, you should consider utilizing a proper desk lamp to protect your eyes and reduce the negative effects of HEV.
1. What level of brightness is safe for the eyes when using a computer regularly?
Eye strain can occur when you are exposed to too much reflected light on your computer screen and uneven brightness on your desk. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare recommends that the brightness on the display screen is 500 lux or less when using the screen and that the illuminance on the document and the keyboard be 300 lux or more.
According to this recommendation, brightness should be simple to use when dealing with documents, text, and the keyboard, but the difference between the brightness of the display and the brightness projected on the document and keyboard surface should be as great as feasible. The smaller the size, the better. Choose a desk lamp with a brightness of 500 lux to 1000 lux and white light to make the text easier to see and reduce eye strain.
2. Take a look at the color rendering index (CRI)
If you are an illustrator or designer, you should take the color rendering index into account so that you can see the most realistic and true colors. You should select the highest possible Ra value.
3. Too much HEV may impair your vision
As previously stated, HEV emitted by computer screens causes easy eye fatigue and impairs vision. When exposed to too much HEV, it can cause eye damage and sleep disruption. HEV can be seen on fluorescent and LED lights as well as digital screens. To reduce the risk of eye damage, consider lights that reduce HEV.
4. Recommending lights that reduce blue light (HEV) is beneficial to the eyes
MotoM has researched, looked for, and created a series of desk lights that decrease blue light to protect the eyes, assisting clients in reducing the risk of blue light eye strain. With special technology that decreases blue light in LEDs by 45%, you will experience less eye strain when reading, studying, or working under this light than under ordinary LED lights.
